Positive Behaviour Support on the Gold Coast
A person-centred approach to understanding and supporting behaviour
Instead of focusing on managing behaviours, we seek to understand their underlying causes and work collaboratively with individuals, families, and support networks to create meaningful and lasting change. At its heart, PBS is about building quality of life—not just reducing behaviours of concern.

What is Positive Behaviour Support?
Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is a person-centred approach to understanding and supporting behaviour. Rather than focusing on simply addressing challenges, PBS seeks to understand the underlying reasons for behaviours and collaborates with individuals, families, and support networks to foster meaningful and lasting change.
At its heart, PBS is about building quality of life — not just reducing behaviours of concern.
We look at the big picture: environment, communication, relationships, sensory needs, and daily routines. Every plan is tailored to the individual, recognising that behaviour is communication.
How Does It Work?
PBS is a collaborative process that brings everyone together—the individual, their family, carers, and other professionals
01
Understanding the person
We start with thorough assessments, conversations, and observations to uncover the triggers, strengths, and motivations behind behaviours.
02
Developing a Plan
Together, we design strategies that make daily life easier, safer, and more enjoyable. This might include changes to routines, skill-building, communication supports, and enhancing individual's strengths.
03
Implementing Supports
We train and guide the people closest to the individual so the plan works in real life. We also work alongside the individual to support their skill development and advocate for their needs.
04
Review and Adjust
Behaviour isn't static, and neither are we. We check in, adapt strategies, and celebrate progress along the way.

Neuro-Affirming & Trauma-Informed
We support a person's unique gifts and differences, focusing on strengths-based support, creating inclusive environments, allowing individuals to be their authentic selves.
Creative & Unique Delivery
While we use proven, evidence-based practices, we don't deliver them in a "one size fits all" way. We adapt standard approaches to each person's unique needs, preferences, and circumstances.

We're not just here to deliver a Behaviour Support Plan. We work extensively with individuals to find strategies that are effective and practical.
Team Approach
We work alongside families, carers, stakeholders, and teams to build confidence and keep things moving forward.
